It seems that I am going through but a lot to do to compose the case study I have been doing for some years though have no plan to publish that. I learned how hard it is to try to weave things when they seem to fall apart. Hope it will be over soon and come back to the real work again.
Hi edTech team do you agree with me if I say that the only way to be able to provide education for the millions of the children out- of- school in my country and elsewere in sub Saharan countries is through the use of non-traditional approaches? Trying to build new more classrooms, hiring and training many more teachers is beyond the budget of many countries. it is just impossible to get millions in school to meet the goals of quality education for all.
Think of all the issues surrounding lifelong learning. Even worse is the challenges of litracy including information litracy. It seems that I am going to serach for alternatives along Mobile Learning. After all there are millions of people back home who could not just come and remain in school because they are pastoralists. They have to move from place to place in serach of pasture and water for their animals. The whole village and community moves to where there is water and rain and continue to move back and forth endlessly. So far, the effort to move schools with them doesnot prove to be successful. Why not try what technology can support. I am saying use of PDAs and Mobiles for learning any where anytime. Even for a poor country like Ethiopia? May be yes, may be no, but why not begin at least mapping towards a solution.my responsibility as a reseracher will be to provide some evidence in support of my argument. So why sould I worry so much about getting everybody in school.
Hope to hear from you especially Pasi Eronen who seems to be in the same boat like me. But his is a smaller boat than mine; I guess!!!Hope will servive the cold and the academic challenge.
